Friends of the Bohm Theatre

Friday at 10 AM! See 2002's "Chicago" on the big screen! Tickets are only $3.00 and a small combo popcorn with drink is just $2.00. Nightclub sensation Velma (Catherine Zeta-Jones) murders her philandering husband, and Chicago's slickest lawyer, Billy Flynn (Richard Gere), is set to defend her. But when Roxie (Renée Zellweger) also winds up in prison, Billy takes on her case as well -- turning her into a media circus of headlines. Neither woman will be outdone in their fight against each other and the public for fame and celebrity.

Over 56 people enjoyed learning about the art of headwrapping on March 25. There were people from Kalamazoo, Battle Creek, Marshall, and Albion. Both men and women adorned their heads with various styles and had fun experimenting with the scarves and cloths. A big thank to our co-sponsors Albion College Intercultural Affairs, POWER, Black Student Alliance, and Campus Programs & Organizations and to the NAACP for their support.

More instructional videos to come on Tuesday.

Thanks Beautifully Wrapped staff and Zarinah for teaching us about other cultures traditions.

With the weather warming up, more people are getting outside and taking walks and picking up garbage along the roadway. Some of the garbage people may be picking up could be discarded pop and beer bottles and cans that have been used for making meth. Components remaining in these can become dormant when discarded and then when picked up, the ingredients mix again and can create toxic fumes or leak through the brittle containers creating safety concerns. We often see these items being returned to local retailers and/or brought into homes creating a larger mess. We’ve added a few pictures of bottles and cans that people have found along the roadway that were used for making meth. If you should see something like this, please do not touch it and call the police at 269.673.3899 (Central Dispatch 24/7) or Silent Observer, 1.800.554.3633. We also ask that if you are turkey/mushroom hunting or fishing this spring to be aware and look for these items and to call so they can be cleaned up properly. Please stay safe out there!
